µ-airTOXIC

Portable GC-PID VOC Analyzer

µ-airTOXIC is a portable GC-PID analyzer with pre-concentration for trace-level VOC monitoring. Multiple configurations cover BTEX, 1,3-butadiene and VOCs from C3 to C12, according to the selected method.

The C6-C12 versions include a PAMS configuration for 33 VOCs and a European configuration for 45 VOCs, including terpenes. Optional method libraries extend the available applications.

Applications

  • Air-quality monitoring in urban areas, environmental monitoring and refinery fence lines.
  • Indoor and outdoor air, industrial hygiene and CO₂ beverages.

Operating principle and field deployment

An electrical six-port valve, a single adsorbent trap and a capillary column are combined with a heated PID and a 10.6 eV lamp. Temperature programming of the column oven and carrier-gas pressure/flow control support the selected analytical method.

  • The portable suitcase integrates sampling, analysis, data storage, a battery and an internal nitrogen tank, with readiness for operation in less than 5 minutes.
  • Integrated Wi-Fi enables control from a phone, tablet or laptop. A local touchscreen is optional.
  • Vistachrom LITE provides measurement configuration, calibration, recalculation, data storage and export.

Options

  • Portable permeation oven with certified permeation tubes for calibration; nitrogen generator up to 300 mL/min with an external compressor for operation and/or tank refilling, providing up to 10 hours of operation after refilling.
  • Modem support and remote control; purge module for extracting VOCs from water for online BTEX analysis; additional battery.
  • Rechargeable internal high-pressure carrier-gas cylinder up to 150 barg; external nitrogen bottle for up to 20 days of operation at 70 bar.
  • Multiple methods with a VOC library of more than 40 compounds (µ-airTOXIC C6-C12). Biogenic measurement, including isoprene, is available, with potential co-elution of C4 or C5 ozone VOC precursors.

Application-dependent compliance

The TSP states support for compliance with EN 14662-3:2015 for selected applications and lists EN 15267-1, EN 15267-2 and QAL1. Applicability depends on the selected configuration and application; refer to the TSP for details.
