Ethylene oxide (EtO) is a volatile organic compound (VOC) widely used in industrial applications, including as a sterilizing agent and in the production of other chemicals. Due to its carcinogenic and toxic nature, monitoring EtO emissions is crucial to ensure workplace safety and environmental protection.
The airmoOVOC analyzer by Chromatotec is specifically designed for the detection and quantification of light oxygenated VOCs, including ethylene oxide. This gas chromatograph utilizes a 6-port valve with a single sorbent trap and metallic capillary columns, achieving detection limits as low as 0.1 ppb in ambient air. Its miniaturized design integrates all components into a 19’’-rack 5U, ensuring sensitivity, mobility, and flexibility.
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are emitted during various industrial processes. These compounds contribute to tropospheric ozone formation and pose health risks due to their carcinogenic and toxic properties. Therefore, reducing VOC emissions is essential.
To address this issue, Chromatotec’s airmoOVOC (GC-FID analyzer) has been employed to monitor VOC emissions. This analyzer measures concentrations ranging from very low (ppt) to high (ppm) levels, making it suitable for emission measurements. When coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) detection, it becomes an autoGC-MS, allowing for the precise identification of unknown molecules thanks to the internal NIST library, thereby facilitating the selection of appropriate treatment methods.
