Industrial air monitoring

We offer versatile solutions for various industries: odor monitoring in paper manufacturing, hazardous area analyzers for refineries, toxic compound detection for industrial hygiene, waste water treatment odor control, clean air room monitoring, and VOC emissions analysis from car painting lines.

Industrial hygiene – Personnel Safety

Industrial companies generate toxic compounds like Benzene and H2S during manufacturing. CHROMATOTEC’s analyzers, such as chromaFID and chromaPID, can monitor these compounds in concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 10 ppm. For personnel safety, they offer the airmoTWA cabinet for Time Weighted Average analysis, which includes multiple sampling points. Monitoring extends to fenceline areas, with required concentrations from 10 to 500 ppb.

Clean air room monitoring

Clean air rooms must be constantly monitored for worker safety and production quality. CHROMATOTEC’s airmoVOC and airmo C10-C18 analyzers can efficiently check for VOC traces at low levels, reducing the need for costly lab analysis. Efficient monitoring is crucial to prevent production disruptions and financial losses.

Waste water treatment plants and landfill

The aim is to analyze H2S and mercaptans in wastewater plant exhausts due to odor and toxicity concerns. Chromatotec’s TRSMEDOR offers highly sensitive speciation down to 1 ppb, without the need for cylinder gas, using air or nitrogen. It includes calibration tools for accuracy.

Refineries and hazardous areas

Chromatotec offers analyzer enclosures designed for hazardous areas, like refineries (e.g., category 1 IIc T4) and those in the United States and Asia (Class I, Div II, groups C and D). These enclosures prioritize safety, utilizing a single carrier gas, either air or nitrogen, for permeation tube dilution and box pressurization. For instance, the airTOXIC PID is a notable example of such systems.

Steelmaking process monitoring by Direct MS

Steel, an alloy of iron and carbon, is widely used in construction. It’s made through Basic Oxygen Steelmaking, where oxygen is used to produce carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide from molten pig iron. Chemical impurities are removed, and inert gas replaces oxygen to minimize oxidation. GAM 3000 Process Mass Spectrometers are employed in metallurgy to optimize steel production by analyzing key components, enhancing quality, and providing a quick return on investment, even in challenging environments.

Analysis of VOCs emissions from a car painting line

In car manufacturing, harmful Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are released during painting, posing health and environmental risks. To mitigate this, Chromatotec® uses the airmoVOC C6-C12 GC-FID analyzer, capable of measuring a wide range of VOC concentrations. This instrument, when paired with MS detection, allows precise identification of molecules for effective treatment. See the Case Study for detailed campaign results.

Odor monitoring for the paper industry

The paper industry is known for its odor issues stemming from the pulp paper production process. Chromatotec has designed continuous analysis solutions to monitor odorous molecules, particularly sulfur compounds. These systems can be placed in various spots on the industrial site, including smoke extraction chimneys, washing and bleaching processes, and lime production. Numerous paper mills worldwide, including those in France, utilize trsMEDOR® for identifying and quantifying H2S, SO2, DMS, and mercaptans, ranging from low parts per billion (ppb) to several percent.
